National Geographic Channel: Killing Jesus

Easter Sensation

On Palm Sunday 2015, the National Geographic Chanel debuted their sensational new docu-series, Killing Jesus.

Adapted from the 2013 New York Times best-selling book Killing Jesus: A History, the third in the series by provocative TV personality and “aggressively conservative” political pundit, Bill O’Reilly, in partnership with Martin Dugard, features several images licensed from the Bridgeman archive including works by Bridgeman Contemporary artists Laura James and Craigie Aitchison.

Images licensed from Bridgeman were used within an impressive showreel of biblical art to accompany the film’s closing narrative, as well as for the concept design of the acclaimed visuals surrounding the movie.

Record Breaking Ratings

From Executive Producer Ridley Scott, the three hour scripted “television event”, directed by Christopher Menaul, features famous faces such as Kelsey Grammer in the role of King Herod, and HBO’s True Blood star, Steven Moyer, as Pontius Pilate.

Perfectly timed in the midst of a slate of popular biblical television shows in the US, Killing Jesus was widely well received, shown in over 170 countries, clinching Nat Geo’s record high ratings at 3.7 million viewers.
