George William Frederick Brudenell-Bruce, 2nd Marquess of Ailesbury and 8th Earl of Cardigan (1804-1878), eldest son of Charles Brudenell-Bruce, 1st Marquess of Ailesbury (1773-1856) and the Hon. Henrietta Maria Hill (1769-1831), daughter of Noel Hill, 1st Lord Berwick (1745-1789), married (i) in 1837 Lady Mary Caroline Herbert (d.1892) the daughter of George Augustus Herbert, 11th Earl of Pembroke and 8th Earl of Montgomery (1759-1827) and (2)Catherine Woronzow on 11 May 1837 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square. He died on 6 January 1878 at age 73 at Savernake, Wiltshire, England, without issue. He held the office of Yeomanry Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria in 1857
