A sloop or keel can be seen sailing out of Barton behind the Royal Charter with sail up and red pennant, with passengers and crew on board, while the Royal Charter is seen in the centre foreground with a single funnel steaming, foremast with Merchant ensign, superimposed by a white rectangle and black racing horse, with the paddle covers below decorated in green and red with gold wreath surrounding Three Crown crest of Hull and the steamer's name around the curved top, a red border around the deckside and green hull below with ship's boat across the stern, green railings and decks on board, with passengers, soldiers in uniform and crew spread over the deck. A cutter with sails up, carrying passengers at the front right and further vessels along the Barton shoreline beyond, including a Merchant Navy brig at the centre right, in full sail with blue pennant at the main mast.
