The Samaritan Pentateuch, also known as the Samaritan Torah is a manuscript of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible, written in the Samaritan alphabet and used as a scripture by the Samaritans. It constitutes their entire biblical canon. The Samaritan alphabet is derived from the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet used by the Israelite community prior to the Babylonian captivity; scholars consult the Samaritan Pentateuch when trying to determine the meaning of text of the original Pentateuch;
