Image description: Early Aviation. Typical of the exploits of aviators in the 1920s was the first round-the-world flight by two American seaplanes. One of them, piloted by Liutenant Nelson, flew over the Yangtze River near Shanghai. Below them, the river teemed with tens of thousands of vessels of all kinds. For their flight across the desert, the plane's pontoons were changed for wheels. At one of their stops, nomads with their camels came to look at the strange machines that had descended from out of the sky.
