Image description

After King William III's Glorious Revolution of 1688, James II (1633–1701) was exiled to France, as a guest of Louis XIV. He sailed to Ireland with French troops, hoping to save his crown with the help of Irish Catholics but was defeated at the Battle of the Boyne. The French Duc de Schomberg and Dr Walker were both killed fighting for William.
