Pilgrims and tourists wait in line November 9 to enter the traditional tomb of Jesus, the 14th and last Station of the Cross, in the heart of the 11th century Church of the Holy Sepulchure. Mindful of a brittle status quo among the Christian denominations that share the site, the Israeli government has refrained from ordering emergency exits to supplement the one existing door even as the millennium year nears and more and more pilgrims are pushing their way into the labyrinthine church which may be a potential death trap for the mulitudes in the event of a catastrophe.
