BENEATH A KIM IL-SUNG STATUE, NORTH KOREAN RESIDENTS WAVE FAKE FLOWERS CELEBRATING A SUMMIT MEETING OF THE TWO KOREAS IN PYONGYANG. Beneath a statue of the late North Korean leader Kim Il-sung, the country's first and "eternal" president, North Koreans wave artificial flowers as they cheer along the streets welcoming the two Korean leaders, the north's Kim Jong-il and South Korean President Kim Dae-jung. The landmark summit meetings began in Pyongyang June 13. People lined the streets on the 25km drive from the airport to Pyongyang's Baekhwawon State Guest House where the meetings are taking place and where Kim Dae-jung will also stay.
