A public service announcement on the food issues in Germany after the war, 1920. German intertitles read as follows; Intertitle: Persons under 70 years old do not receive any milk in Berlin. Persons under 70 will only receive milk on doctor’s advice. Shot: elderly woman coughs and drinks a sip of milk. Intertitle: In peace time, babies and infants would receive milk abundantly, and would recover soon in homes for infant care. Shot: stills of well fed naked babies on a duvet in the grass. Intertitle: This is what babies currently look like in German homes for infant care. Shots: very underfed babies are lying on a table in a children’s home. Intertitle: The amount of prematurely born babies is extremely high due to the fact that mothers are underfed. It’s difficult to keep these children alive. The babies are kept warm in cotton wool.
