Date [1873] Illustrations With a portrait of Alexander Herrmann Notes Alexander Herrmann appeared at the Egyptian Hall for over a thousand consecutive nights from 1870 until 1873. He returned to the USA in 1875, took out US citizenship and there remained, apart from occasional tours abroad, becoming a famous magician in the Americas (Edwin A. Dawes: The great illusionists. 1979 p.155). - Printed in red and black ink. - Dated in MS: Feb. 5th 73. - MS. notes: This was not the original Herrmann. HEv. A young Frenchman, he was very good. After travelling about the Provinces, went to America.. - Also a MS. note on Alexander Osmann: This was a man of colour - acted as page or servant to Herrmann, afterwards he left - came back and worked [illegible] a conjurer. [illegible] Herrmanns performance
