Tales of St. Peter Martyr (Storie di san Pietro Martire), by Andrea di Bonaiuto, 1365-1367, 14th Century, fresco
Detail. The scene depicts the healing of the paralytica Agatha, under a little crowd's eyes; the woman, with blonde hair and a red tunic, lies on the ground and is supported by two persons sitting round her; she is represented in profile, seems to look upwards and holds out her arms to another female figure; on the left it is possible to notice a kneeled friar who addresses his prayer to the sky, while on the right Saint Peter Martyr stands in the doorstep, with lifted hands; beside him one can see two children and two characters in long tunics with their heads veiled, who seem to converse; below the fresco runs a frieze with geometrical and floral motives, in red, pink and white shades
