Villa Ephrussi De Rothschild

Collection Overview

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild was built at the beginning of the 20th century by Béatrice de Rothschild, member of the Rothschild banking dynasty and husband of the Russian-born banker Maurice Ephrussi. Unable to have children, Béatrice channelled her great fortune into building her house and garden on the Cap Ferrat and filling it with a magnificent collection of furniture, paintings, ceramics, tapestries and other treasures. Upon her death Béatrice left her collection to the Académie des beaux-arts and the villa is now open as a museum.
